Common Issues & Fixes

Agent not responding after setup

  1. 1.Make sure OpenClaw is running: run `openclaw status` in your terminal
  2. 2.Check that you copied ALL files from the kit into your workspace directory
  3. 3.Verify your API key is set: check your OpenClaw config for the model provider key
  4. 4.Try restarting OpenClaw: `openclaw gateway restart`
  5. 5.Check logs for errors: look in your OpenClaw logs directory

Cron jobs / scheduled tasks not firing

  1. 1.Confirm HEARTBEAT.md has tasks listed (empty = no heartbeat calls)
  2. 2.Check your cron schedule syntax — use https://crontab.guru to validate
  3. 3.Make sure the agent session is active (heartbeats only fire for active agents)
  4. 4.Restart OpenClaw after changing cron settings

Memory not persisting between sessions

  1. 1.Verify the `memory/` directory exists in your workspace
  2. 2.Check that MEMORY.md exists at the workspace root
  3. 3.Make sure your agent's AGENTS.md references memory files correctly
  4. 4.Memory search requires an embedding API key — check your auth profile config

Can't connect to messaging channels (Telegram, Slack, etc.)

  1. 1.Verify your channel config in OpenClaw settings
  2. 2.Check that bot tokens / API keys are correct and not expired
  3. 3.For Telegram: make sure you've sent /start to your bot
  4. 4.For Slack: verify the bot is invited to the channel
  5. 5.Run `openclaw status` to see which channels are connected

Files seem empty or placeholder-ish

  1. 1.Files like USER.md, IDENTITY.md, and TOOLS.md are intentionally templated — you need to fill them in with YOUR info
  2. 2.Read the GETTING_STARTED.md in each kit for what to customize first
  3. 3.The agent becomes useful as you personalize it. That's by design.

I didn't receive my download email

  1. 1.Check your spam/junk folder — look for email from info@tryvectorapps.com
  2. 2.Wait 5 minutes — emails can occasionally be delayed
  3. 3.If still missing after 10 minutes, DM @rev_ai_42 on Twitter with your order email
